CallLane Lite support

Last updated

How to use it

  1. Click the CallLane Lite icon in the menu bar to open its panel.
  2. Pick the microphone you want calls and dictation to use, such as your Mac’s built-in mic.
  3. Turn on Lock input. Lite keeps that mic as your Mac’s input, even when you connect AirPods.

To start Lite each time you log in, turn on Open at login in its settings.

Why AirPods switch to low quality

When an app uses the AirPods microphone, Bluetooth switches the AirPods to a call mode that carries sound both ways at once. Your music and call audio then drop to phone-call quality. When your Mac takes its input from another mic, the AirPods stay in their high-quality listening mode.

Troubleshooting

Another app keeps changing the mic

Lite switches the input back when another app changes it. If the input changes 3 times within 5 seconds, Lite pauses so the two apps don’t fight over it, then resumes. If this keeps happening, check the other app’s audio settings and stop it from picking a microphone.

Zoom or Teams still uses the AirPods mic

In the app’s audio settings, set the microphone to “Same as System”. The app then follows the input that Lite locks.

Quit or uninstall

To quit, open the panel from the menu bar and choose Quit. To uninstall, quit Lite, then drag CallLane Lite from your Applications folder to the Trash.
