Free alternatives
If you only need calls to stop ducking your music, two free, open-source apps do that part.
- Unduck Pro is free under the MIT license and adds a per-app volume mixer. It needs macOS 14.2, is self-signed rather than notarized, and doesn’t advertise a fix for AirPods dropping to headset mode. Unduck Pro vs CallLane.
- Duckproof is free under GPL-3.0, signed and notarized, and works the same way CallLane does for ducking. It needs macOS 14.2, and for AirPods you pick the Mac’s mic in each call app yourself. Duckproof vs CallLane.
CallLane is worth paying for if you also want the Mac’s input kept on its own mic, so AirPods stay in high quality on calls and while you dictate, or if you’re on macOS 14.0 or 14.1.
Refunds
If CallLane doesn’t work for you, email support@hardeep.cv within 14 days of purchase and I’ll refund you in full. No questions asked. A refunded key stops working. The full terms are on the terms page.
